  • FRIDAY FIVE

    Appetizer
What’s one word or phrase that you use a lot?

What in the….?!*~ Followed by either “jeezoman!” or “namaste.”
    Soup
Name something you always seem to put off until the last minute.

Getting my hair cut. It’s such an ordeal to face yet another cheery or grumpy cosmetologist who is going to destroy your already shaky image.
    Salad
What was the last great bumper sticker you saw?

The more people I meet the more I love my cat.
    Main Course
If you could be invisible for one day, how would you spend your time?

If I was at work I’d listen in on conferences the bosses are having to see if I’m going to get fired. If not, I’d pick out the best cultural events in town and enjoy them free, one after another, since all plays and concerts and such are now unbelievably expensive.
    Dessert
    Describe your hair.

Usually in a state of disarray thanks to the above-mentioned cosmetologists. Ornery. Fast-growing. Beloved.

Deep Thought: “If you think a weakness can be turned into a strength, I hate to tell you this, but that’s another weakness.”
Today I am grateful for: Rocking chairs
Guess the Movie: “I know what you’re thinking. “Did he fire six shots or only five?” Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you’ve got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?”
House Votes to Curb Patriot Act, Defies Bush
WASHINGTON – The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday defied President Bush by approving a measure making it harder for federal agents to secretly gather information on people’s library reading habits and bookstore purchases. (Rest of article here.)
End of Day: OK, what in the….?!*~ jeezoman! Xanga said it would be down for an hour and it’s still down the next morning.

  • Great post as alwasy. I love these questions.

  • Magnum Force? Either that or Double Impact. I know it was Dirty Harry. Do you think he had two brothers named Dirty Darryl and Dirty Darryl?

    T

  • Dirty Harry hits the jackpot!

  • How do you pronounce “namaste”?

  • nah mah stay

  • 1. “Fuck” sorry, it’s my dominant phrase, though not with the students I work with, or their parents.
    2. Paying bills. I just hate it, then I have to scramble to do them all in a rush and I hate that too.
    3. [on a teenage boy's beat up old Toyota wagon - this looked exactly like a "My child is an Honor Student at" sticker] “I’m Having Sex with an Honor Student at west Ottawa High School”
    4. Just for a day? Damn, all my life I’ve just wanted to disappear. I guess it would be this unique chance to observe the details of human behavior, but maybe also a unique chance to steal lots of cool stuff.
    5. Very dark brown. Shorter than usual but its summer. I haven’t used a comb in over twenty years, I just sort of mess it up with my fingers. It’s either endearing or part of my essential image of irresponsibility.

I’d drive over to Dunthorp and wander around in their backyards, the ones on the garden tour.
    Dessert
    Describe your hair.

Freshly cut, the dye being two weeks out and not too dark.  My daughter cuts it (She just graduated from Beau Monde but has been doing my hair for four years)  It’s cut to move, so I don’t have to do anything to it.

It had something to do with Bush…. it wasn’t flattering, by the way.
Main Course: If you could be invisible for one day, how would you spend your time?

    Interesting post today!

  • i have never heard that song before … i’m interested to find it and listen to it.  thanks

  • Shaky image….I know that feeling.  I was wondering if you and your pals ever completed the program outlined in Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way”…  I periodically pull that book out and look through it, but I’m not very good at morning pages.  (It’s very uncomfortable for me to write – it makes my wrist hurt).  Do you think typing would be okay for morning pages?  Just curious.  I’ll check back here for your response, should you care to give one.

    Love the Friday Five!

  • You’re right about commondreams! I got the link from you a while back! Thank you-belatedly.
