ZabaSearch
Just thought you’d like to know how easily anyone can get your address and phone number and a background check. This is a website that provides your name, dob, addy, phone number and even a picture to anyone!
This is an easy way to get your ID stolen. If you are on there, send a message to info@zabasearch.com and tell them you want off. They will send you a message telling you how.
Keep checking and make sure they don’t re-list you.
And while you’re at it, read this article about ZabaSearch sent by nullwinkle.
Deep Thought: Whenever someone asks me to define love, I usually think for a minute, then I spin around and pin the guy’s arm behind his back. NOW who’s asking the questions?”
Today I am grateful for: Laughter

An Open Letter to Howard Dean
by Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich
Dear Chairman Dean,
Speaking before an ACLU crowd last week in Minnesota, the home state of Paul Wellstone, you were quoted as saying, “Now that we’re there [in Iraq], we’re there and we can’t get out…. I hope the President is incredibly successful with his policy now.” Did these words really come from the same man who claimed to represent the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party, and who had recently campaigned on the antiwar theme? What’s changed? (Rest of article here.)
End of Day: 8:46 pm
+ = Hey Cinco de Mayo and I completely forgot.
- = Grey grey day.

On The Waterfront
I long for a time when identity was flexible and government tracking difficult.
You ARE a contender!
When Imaybe 11 I was sick for a week and Channel 9 in New York had this “Million Dollar Movie” thing where they’d show the same film like 25 times in a week, and that week it was On The Waterfront. I memorized the “could’a been a contender” speech and developed a huge crush on Eva Marie Saint.
Hrmm. It wants 10 bucks from me. What did I do wrong???
Thanks for the info – I’ll pass it along!
It is truly scary that we are so vunerable to identity theft………….
Okay, zaba is a little scary.
That’s not the only site that lists folks private information. Like others, they charge a fee for someone to access that info. I plan on dropping them a letter, nevertheless. Not that I’m particularly worried about it. I stay pretty low-key.
You are so disciplined with your xanga site. Everyday a thoughtful presentation.
There was an article in the San Francisco Chronicle about Zabasearch recently (http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2005/04/15/BUG3JC8U341.DTL). It is an outrage that our personal information is so readily available.
As for Dean’s comments, I’m actually not that surprised. He was not as progressive as he was often portrayed (his record as a fiscal conservative while Governor of Vermont, for example.)
I am aware of the site…this is the information age…
Uh oh.
Creepy stuff. Not surprised, though.
Dang, that’s fairly not cool. Especially since all my stuff is supposed to be unlisted. Hmmm… thanks for the info!
Yikes! My name is there! And my brother’s, and my deceased parents. My phone # is unlisted! I definitely want off! Thanks for the information.
Thanks for the Zaba link. Be well
ryc: I sent him a print out by snail mail. I can’t send them email.
And you should be getting a prezzie today!
Well, I’m amazed.
