FRIDAY FIVEAppetizer – Who is the one person you email more often than anyone else?
That would be my daughter, the fabulous turtle_dove who has her own take on our life story (well since she was born that is). She lives in another town so emailing is easier (and less expensive) than phoning. She’s a bright, sensitive, recovering ball of creative string just like her mom.
Soup – So far, which year of your life has been the most enjoyable?
Omigod, there’s been so damn many. Years that is. It’s hard to think of a whole year as being enjoyable – each day has its moments, and many hard ones as well. I’m working on this one being the best though.
Salad – Name someone with whom you have lost touch but would like to reunite.
The people I’d most like to reunite with are unfortunately gone from this plane (those being my parents). I can feel them around in me in spirit though. Love yours while they’re still here. Chat them up.
Main Course – What was the tastiest meal you had this past week?
Oh probably this morning out for breakfast with my neighbor to celebrate that she just made 5 years of cancer survival. I had a tofu scramble with spinach and mushrooms and scallops in it and steamed vegetables on the side. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.
Dessert – Using the letters in your favorite color, write three words that describe your personality.
Purple is my favorite color, so let’s see. Spiritual. Unruly. Curious.
Deep Thought: “If aliens from outer space ever come and we show them our civilization and they make fun of it, we should say we were just kidding, that this isn’t really our civilization, but a gag we hoped they would like. Then we tell them to come back in twenty years to see our real civilization. After that, we start a crash program of coming up with an impressive new civilization. Either that, or just shoot down the aliens as they’re waving good-bye.”
Today I am grateful for: Bottled water
Guess the Movie: “ Do you believe in UFOs, astral projections, mental telepathy, ESP, clairvoyance, spirit photography, telekinetic movement, full trance mediums, the Loch Ness monster and the theory of Atlantis?” “Ah, if there’s a steady paycheck in it, I’ll believe anything you say.” Answer: Ghostbusters, 1984.
Winner: Eliminate_the_Impossible.

Good way to deal with aliens.
That quote would be from Ghostbusters. Love that movie.
Hope those educators can unite and do some good. It seems that no one is listening. My son is so very unhappy being an educator that is not allowed to educate!
Ghostbusters it is – woot woot!
tofu scramble?!?…
hey there! I like these participatory thingys you have, lionne!!!! also I did visit your daughter’s blogs… the two of you and there is my mom (charlottecolors) and me, and we are both in recovery as well… I will be writing your daughter requesting access to her protected posting since I see we have some other things in commonn as well.
ok. Hmm: APPETIZER: probably email my partner, Lorraine, more than anyone.
SOUP: the most enjoyable year of your life thus far? Hard one. I suppose I would have to say the most enjoyable year was the year I fell in love with Lorraine and truly began experiencing at 41 the gift of loving someone I KNOW as opposed to having a crush on someone I barely knew, getting involved immediately only to discover… oops not compatible. Good as friends, but……………. I also don’t think of my years as enjoyable or not, I think of individual experiences of periods of tme that are briefer.
SALAD: lost touch with my best friend in college, Dyan. Would love to talk to her again.
Main Course: tastiest meal this week: L made poultry italizn sausage, with peppers & onions, mashed potatoes and tossed salad. your tofu scramble sounded deeeeeeeelicious!! and I love scallops
Dessert: favorite color and scramble: TURQUOISE to describe myself: QUESTOR (as in person who quests), sure, OUT (as in of the closet, open about my feelings, life etc)
thanks for the challenge!
Tofu scramble is kind of a vegan version of hangtown fry.
Finally saw Hotel Rwanda tonight (it finally made it to a theater in my little hideout), and well, I find it difficult to believe that anything else was “best picture,” since I think that should be mandatory viewing for every white person on the planet.
Has, of course, left me blasted. But you know, I worked for years in part of New York City that was an unbelievable humanitarian disaster, and people drove past on the Interstate daily, drinking their Starbucks, and not even considering it. I’ve seen children freeze to death in the wealthiest city on the planet. I watch people worry more about a dollar of taxes than kids dying of preventable diseases, and I realize we’re a sick nation/planet/human race that is as far from the ideals espoused by Jesus as we can get.
Glad you liked the movie. I hope it makes some kind of difference in the world. I think our country must be operating under some kind of soul-destroying cloud sometimes. Like having some kind of fever or infection that we won’t realize we have until it gets cured. Apparently some folks in New York were busy waking up today though (see article I posted).
Your “dessert” has confused the hell out of me.
Then again, I’m easily confused.
I figured you didn’t have to use ALL the letters, just some of them.
I wish I had discovered your blog sooner. You write with such wisdom and forthought. Thank you for the sub. As I have just read some of your recent posts, I am returning the favor. I’ll be back later to read what you have to say.
Ooh! What a juicy blog you have!
I love the photo of the kids! What a great perspective!
THanks for the sub, too! Right back at ya…
Who eMails me more than anyone else? Arca Max. A spam emailer I can’t get rid of!
The aliens will have to be of none-body forms to survive in our air full of the dna spores that are unique to this planet.
