TUESDAY POLITICSClick here for one of a number of online places to sign a petition supporting Howard Dean for Chair of the DNC. I was an early fan of HD for speaking out loudly and clearly against the war in Iraq before anyone else I’d heard of at the time. Before he deconstructed during the campaign for the Presidency, I’d had a few little hints here and there of a less than temperate personality, but his apparent intent and principles outweighed, and still outweigh, my minor hesitancies. So this past weekend the Democratic Party heavyweights met in Orlando to take a look at possible candidates for DNC Chair and Dean gave a great speech. Apparently, a decision will be made in February. I heard some talking head on the TV media say that he doesn’t stand a chance because the folks who will choose are so conservative. Wondering what you all think of his chances and of him. An article I just read says he would have more influence by running for President again in 2008. Is it possible for him to do both? It seems like the Democratic Party needs a real shot of adrenaline and it’s scary to see it trying to cozy up to the conservative folks on the right. Thoughts?
Deep Thought: “If you’re being chased by an angry bull, and then you notice you’re also being chased by a swarm of bees, it doesn’t really change things. Just keep on running.”
Today I am grateful for: Apoplexy
Guess the Movie: “Can I ask you something? These sunglasses: they’re really nice. Are they like government issue, or do you guys all go to the same store together?” Answer: Midnight Run, 1988.
Winner: thenarrator.

Is the quote from “Men in Black?” Just a wild guess.
Good guess, but no. I almost chose a quote from MIB this morning though.
I’d like him as Chairman. I’ve signed the petition. I’d like him in the Senate. I don’t know if Presidential campaigns are the best for him…
Midnight Run?
I signed the petition too. Interesting. And yes Mr. Smartypants, Midnight Run, one of my list of funniest movies ever is Correct.
I support HD as well I think that he would be a good vocal leader and perhaps it is time someone who wasn’t conservative was making decisions after all the conservative approach has gotten the DNC nowhere lately. I liked him early on too in the primaries. I’m not so sure that he is the right guy as a Pres candidate but I know a lot of people who would vote for hi, but of course they are liberals.
Ah, shoot, I was going to guess MIB, too.
Isn’t it too bad when the people you would like to support suddenly become less than viable in the running?
I like the snowglobe!
Gosh, I was pretty sure I’d heard that quote, but I don’t think I’ve seen Midnight Run.
I feel confused about Howard Dean. I’m sure if I tell my fiance’ about this, he’ll get me re-enthused about Dean. ;-
I participated in MoveOn’s petition for new, grassroots DNC leadership.
I think he could make an incredibly gifted chair…
I love your movie quote of the day lionne. And I decided after trying to beat the narrator to the answer that I was not going to use google to ‘cheat’ my way into winning So if I dont’ know it, I don’t know look it up. Just wanted you to know why it might seem that i haven’t playing the nmovie game lately.
Now that you’ve got that digicam, take us along for a walk in your neighborhood this christmas season!
He is dynamic and his heart is true. Sometimes passionate people scare those who are less so. Gosh, how sad! Of course, just think of Pat Robertson…now there is a man who we need to be scared about! YIKES! I say give him the job or bore everyone for the next four years.
