  • I see our Fearless Leader was at the convention last night. I didn’t get to watch much as I was out of the house. Just caught a bit of Ron Reagan holding his own amongst a panel of rightwing folks there. Hope I’ll get to read Moore’s column when it’s printed.

Michael Moore Draws Boos at Convention
    The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) – Already a box office sensation, filmmaker Michael Moore got another loud reception Monday at the Republican convention. This time, it was boos.

When Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., told the delegates about “a disingenuous film maker who would have us believe that Saddam’s Iraq was an oasis of peace,” they knew he was referring to the maker of “Fahrenheit 9-11.” The film, which savages Bush’s Iraq policy, has set a box office record for documentaries, grossing $115 million so far.

McCain’s comments prompted prolonged booing and chants of “Four more years.” Many of the delegates faced Moore, who was seated in the press seats at Madison Square Garden because he is writing a column this week for USA Today.

Moore seemed to relish the attention, thrusting his arms over his head, laughing and saying, “Two more months.”

Asked about McCain’s remarks, Moore said, “I can’t believe they’re dumb enough to bring up the film and help its box office.”
By the way, Bush is now ahead in the electoral college polls 280-242. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Deep Thought: You can’t tell me that cowboys, when they’re branding cattle, don’t sort of “accidentally” brand each other every once in a while. It’s their way of letting off stress.
Today I am grateful for: The New York protests staying peaceful so far
Guess the movie: “Do you think that we could find a place where we can meet, not in silence and not in sound?” Answer: Children of a Lesser God, 1986
    End of Day: 8:23 pm
+ = Finally could afford to stop at vet and get Advantage flea stuff for cats. They’re overdue.
    - = Tired, tired, tired. Not enough sleep last night.

  • it was a hoot when mccain mentioned michael moore.  moore had a patented bush smirk inch across his face and he waved to the crowd.

i tell you what, if i was a republican, i’d feel very wary about mccain.  he’s saying all the right GOP things, but . . .

  • After the last presidential election fiasco I have little faith in either party.  I never have a clue as to your movie references – guess I’m too dense.  <g>  I always enjoy your Deep Thoughts.  Today’s gave me a chuckle.

  • I am very afraid…I haven’t been watching the convention at all..by choice..can’t stomache the rhetoric..to me it is a bunch of BS…The Republican party, that is….

but I am not sure that the majority of Americans are smart and or/involved enough to realize what is really going on….

My own sister, bless her and I do love her, is so wrapped up in her own life and chooses not to even read the papers most of the time…she doesn’t think for herself..GRRR…so we don’t discuss politics but I can’t help but get in a poke now and again…

My brother threatens not to vote at all..(another GRRR) but I have my kids convinced to vote this year..

  • Yes, I’m working on my kids too, or will be soon.

  • Wait until the DVD when he shows more video of torture, our intelligence Czar on tape saying he is not qualified and Bush putting his foot in his mouth even more…

  • i could not bear to watch one minute of that (for once i have no word),Convention.I did watch the streets. What about thoes no back up voting machines. i PRAY PEOPLE HAVE CAUGHT ON BY NOW…good post, blessings, beckon

  • How have you been? Nicer weather these days at least. What did you think of the rain recently. The barn flooded over here! It was pretty bad. I am ready for the fall winter!

Do you have to keep the cats inside when it’s storming out? Bunzilla! seems to do fine with thunder but Solon doesn’t.

  • I heard it was so bad out your way.  The cats don’t have to be told to stay in.  They skulk around looking nervous.

  • It’ll be ok if everyone votes. The polls are all based in likely voters, the unlikely voters are Democrats. Drag ten people to vote with you. Everyone. And we win!
