Concerned? Then tell Congress and the White House!
Deep Thought: Basically, this is the way the economy works: I do
a service for you, and you pay me, even if you claim you didn’t want
the service and that I “ruined” something of yours.

  • News for Republicans:
Taxes don’t hurt the economy, they simply re-distribute income (most often, actually, to rich people via defense and construction projects). But debt does: When the government borrows it invades the same credit market you and I are in, only it offers sure repayment and tax-free income. The more government borrows the more it chokes the economy. Of course if you’re super-rich and irresponsible, like the President, Vice President, and majority of the Senate, you don’t care… you’ve not only got yours, you’re getting paid in tax money as well.

  • A-freaking-men!

  • I knew it was bad but this is ridiculous….

  • when I was younger I always wondered why they didn’t just make more money and pay off the debt. There’s no way that debt could ever get paid off now. Maybe the government should call one of those credit solutions places.

  • What will probably happen is they’ll use our social security benefits, etc. to pay it off.

  • Incredible, isn’t it. And how could the richest country in the world be in debt anyway. Something to think about … love your bringing politics, debt, the world out there that runs things into your xangas … widens the scope…

  • Americans want government services but have no interest in paying for them, brendaclews. It’s not a country with much of a system of either mathematics or economics education.

  • certainly food for thought.

  • Just saw an interesting segment with P. Diddy Sean Puffy Combs or whatever the hell his name is these days. The neat thing was that he’s formed a nonprofit group to get out the vote among young and minority foks. I already forgot the name of it – something Change, but I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about it in days to come. Go Puffy!

  • Ack. That is, frankly, pathetic of the government. And that’s not a very effectual comment, but still.
