    1. What was the last TV show you watched?
I rarely watch a TV show all the way through – I kind of surf. Mostly, I watch videos because I can put them on pause to go do other things. In the morning I watch news while I’m getting ready for work. In the evening I usually linger at talk shows. It takes going out to the movies for me to sit all the way through something.
    2. What was the last thing you complained about?
Being called for jury duty next Monday and Tuesday. OK, I know it’s my civic duty, but it’s WAY out of my comfort zone. It means I won’t get home till evening. I’ll have to ride the bus to a scary part of town. I’ll have to sit all day with a bunch of strangers on hard benches. I’ll have to miss work, so my work will pile up. And there’s the chance I’ll get picked for something that will require longer than 2 days. It’s stressing me out so much I’m feeling like I’m coming down with something this morning.
    3. Who was the last person you complimented and what did you say?
I told someone who joined my forum for Women in Our 60′s that I admired that in her 50′s she was going back to school to learn how to do counseling to help people learn to negotiate peacefully. Life skills stuff. I think it’s fantastic when people find it in themselves to be concerned about the world around them while they are struggling with their own daily existence.
    4. What was the last thing you threw away?
    An Eskimo Pie premium wrapper.
    5. What was the last website (besides this one) that you visited?
Google images to get the picture for this blog.
Deep Thought: I only played hooky one time, so I’ll never forget it. I hid in the bushes right outside my classroom. And since the window was open, I could hear the teacher, so I went ahead and took notes. When the teacher asked a question, I raised my hand, but she couldn’t see me.
Today I am grateful for: Shelter from the storm

  • I would LOVE Jury duty. Sadly, I never seem to get that call. It’s a good excuse to read a book.

LOL the Deep thought. Thanks for the link. But for some reason-I like reading them on your site!

  • yes, shelter in a storm… or heck, even when it’s shining outside, its nice to have some place to hide.

  • Hi Andrea… it’s been a long time since I dropped by. I’m hoping they will call me for jury duty sometime. Not necessarily because it is a civic duty, but I think it would be an interesting experience… but then I don’t have a job that I’d have to catch up on when it was all over. I’ve been a witness in a jury trial before, but you only get to be in the courtroom for your own testimony. Take care

  •    What cute Winnie the Pooh items. Piglet was always my favorite character.

Your answers were intriguing. I watch mainly late night talk shows too. Have you tried The Tavis Smiley show on PBS? He has guests that aren’t always run of the mill & asks intelligent questions. Not as serious as Charlie Rose, but just as interesting.

  • When I was called for jury duty I told them I had Crohn’s disease and if nature called I pretty much had to answer, immediately. I haven’t heard from them since.

  • The shop is right on the southwest corner of SE31st and Hawthorne. I think its called Patricia’s. Its a very fun thing to do with a daughter or granddaughter. The shop is run by Vietnamese. First you pick out any color you want for the your toes. Then they put your feet in a warm spa and after doing all the trimming and scrubbing, they massage your feet and calves for about 15 minutes–very relaxing. Kim, Cindy or Daisy (whom I met yesterday and I think are the only people who work there), paint your toenails several times, then put you under a dryer to make sure it sets well. I try to wear sandals. I usually go with my daughter (but she’s in Nigeria still), so I went with Jenna, one of the young women that lives in my house. Then we had lunch at Thanh Thao up the street. It is a really fun time. The cost of the pedicure is $20. You can get a manicure and pedicure for $30 (plus tip). This is the main thing we do for “pampering” around here.  Hope you’re experience is fun….

  • I’ve never been called for jury duty. Once, I filled out a form for it, but I was never called. I’ve heard they don’t you enough to pay for the parking. LOL!

  • I know exactly what you mean about jury duty. I hate it but know we should do it. Your post is very good. You put a lot of yourself into and that is why it is quality.

  • Eskimo pie?  Mmmmmmm..
