Here is what my little 1989 Toyota Tercel looks like, including its engine, which a gas station owner told me yesterday probably needs to be replaced because it’s smoking out the back now when I accelerate. I hate car repairs worse than just about anything. Mechanics are almost always arrogant SOBs who treat you like you’re the fool that you probably are about your car. I made an appointment for Friday to take TT in for a look by my usual mechanic. I hate the prospect of figuring out how to get home and then sit there and wait all day for the horrible news that I’ll have to pay some huge amount of money and it won’t all get done in one day, etc. etc. Sorry I’m whining and moaning. Maybe it will turn out to be a miracle. Like they’ll say all you need is a $40 oil treatment. We’ll see. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, here’ s two pics of my office that I took with my fabulous new digital camera.
This is where I sit for 40 hours a week of my life. It could be worse.
See Jane looking down at me from the cubby over my head.
Everybody should have a flatscreen monitor. Boy I wish I had one at home.
Deep Thought: I wish somebody would invent a fruit that had no seeds, tasted delicious, and would scream when you ate it.
Today I am grateful for: Buses

If it’s any help, I’ve always found that Good Year is a great place – they work fast, they call you with an estimate before they start work, and I’ve rarely picked up my car without finding a cheaper bill than they quoted me.
Wow, thanks!
My hubby and I did an experiment once. I took the car in for inspection and was told it had several things wrong with it needing repairs. He took the same car into the same place about a week later and it passed inspection with no problems. We had no work done on it in the intervening week. Mechanics really put the screws to us.
No kidding. A woman alone at a mechanic’s is just asking for ripoff.
I hate car repairs too; I spent $1,400.00 a few months ago to replace the head gaskets on my truck. They had it in the shop for 5 days but what can you do?
