Appetizer – Create a new candle scent.
    I
love candles but I don’t usually burn them when I’m home alone because
I’m afraid somehow I’ll forget and leave them on when I go out or fall
asleep – or one of my cats will knock one over when I’m not looking,
etc. My favorite scent for years was vanilla and I used them for air
freshening when company was coming because god forbid using incense
these days. Then you have to go into long explanations about how you
used to be hippie 40 years ago. But a new scent – how about the smell
    of a fall wood fire.
Soup – Name one way you show affection to others.
    My
birth family were not huggers. During my vagabond flower child days
free love was the word so way beyond hugging was common. There’s
nothing better than when your children are little enough for hugging
while sitting in your lap. Then they get bigger than you are and
suddenly they’re hugging you. In Recovery programs hugging is de
rigeur. Total strangers have hugfests. But I never got over the
original no hugging days altogether.  That doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s an A-1 idea.
Salad – What is your favorite writing instrument?
    Oh,
I must have fine point pens and not ball point because they smear when
you run a highlighter over them. I’m running out now and they’re on my
    shopping list.
Main Course – If you were given $25 to spend anywhere online, from which site would you buy?
    Well,
you can’t buy much for $25 for starters. I’d probably find something
used on Amazon.com. Some kind of spiritual or self-help book or DVD.
Dessert – Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what are you going to be?
    No
freaking way. I’m so happy for everyone who loves to gung ho for
Halloween. I’ll be the one with my front porch lights off. When my
grandkids were little and my kids were little I put up with all that bags
of sugar seeking. Thank god they now live far enough away and got old
enough that I don’t have to worry about it. Please don’t hate me.

    Deep Thought:
“It’s easy to sit there and say you’d like to have more money. And I
guess that’s what I like about it. It’s easy. Just sitting there,
rocking back and forth, wanting that money.”
Today I am grateful for: Presumption of innocence
    Guess the Movie:
“I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea
that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know you’re
licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no
matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do.”  Answer:  To Kill A Mockingbird, 1962.
    Bush OKs 700-mile border fence
    WASHINGTON
(CNN) — President Bush signed a bill Thursday authorizing the
construction of a fence along one-third of the 2,100-mile
(3,360-kilometer) U.S. border with Mexico, but missing from the
legislation is a means to pay for it. (Rest of article here.)

  • Hee hee…never was a hippie but currently burning nag champa…does that make me newly antiquated?? *smirk*

  • a fall wood fire scent would be worth buying…

  • I was thinking what would my candle smell like?? The funny thing is that one scent that has fond memories for me is moth balls yes napthalene! My grandma used to have them in her apartment and must have had a lot of them, so when I smell moth balls I remember her and feel all warm and fuzzy. Silly isn’t it?

    Hope all is well!

  • I did find a cedar candle once, at a Yankee Candles place, I think.  I usually just settle for sandalwood or the christmas pine candles.  I’m not big to hug strangers, either.

  • My Mom was a loving hugger,  my Dad wasn’t.   Between the two I learned that love is a many splendored thing.     And in recovery at AA, I learned that hugging is so very supportive.

  • great list – hmmm, for your writing instrument, what is your preferred color, if any? LOL I usually like black, but fine lots of uses for blue… it depends.

  • I love the melon scents! I was never hugged much either and to this day don;t like to be touched much. Makes me a tad angry because I feel bad for my husband.

    Have a great Sunday!

  • RYC: Yes, unfortunately there are too many fires this time of year. We desperately need rain. Hats off to all those who think of the animals that need to be rescued & evacuated. As we found out last week, getting information when your home is affected doesn’t seem to be the priority. It’s heart wrenching not knowing. But luckily near us at least all is now okay.

    Have a great Sunday.

  • a hug from a stranger feels awkward and werid and wrong. BUT a hug from the right someone can make my life turn back around. Don’t worry about the halloween aversion thing. You’re entitled.

  • I don’t celebrate Halloween anymore either.  And I burn incense.  I’m an old stick in the mud before my time hahahahhaha

  • I would buy from the Giam site because they have cool stuff.

  • Well, I am beat. Just stopped by to say hi.

  • Hi, just passing by & wanted to see how yr doing. Candles: how about cherry? I smelled those once & it was amazing. Kev

  • I was never a hugger but made sure I hugged my kids as if I was–it worked. They are very comfortable with it, and I have grown to be, except when I hug a non-hugger. Then it feels awkward!

I’m conflicted about Halloween. I’m kinda ambivalent about all holidays–I can do them every few years, not annually, sheesh. I wouldn’t mind myself shutting off the light and staying in, except I worry about the fish in the front yard. Last month, two went missing after four years. We also found a roll of toilet paper in the water, and many homes were tp’d. I suspect someone stole them for a prank; it was around homecoming. Very sad. So we make a fire and sit out front with brandy or wine to pass out candy to the hordes of children driven in by the van-full from who knows where. I really wish we could change it to a group party concept rather then a door-to-door event.

  • thank you

  • Thnx for yr comment & yr right.  I thought about that some more & changed the title of the poem to “Today I Chose”. Kev

  • Thanks for stopping by…….Hope you have an Awesome Friday!……In Christ’s Love….Monic

  • I think the new candle scent would.. or is that wood be delightful:)

  • I liked your candle scent. I’m with you on Halloween too. Just get my kids old enough not to care and the porch light’s getting snapped off. That deep thought, wow, my favorite. Have a good weekend.
