After all, no one knows when is their time.
No one is awake when the last snow falls in the dark,
and we turn the corner into spring
and toward the light.Deep Thought: “Sometimes you have to be careful when selecting a new name for yourself. For instance, let’s say you have chosen the nickname “Fly Head.” Normally you would think that “Fly Head” would mean a person who has beautiful swept-back features, as if flying through the air. But think again. Couldn’t it also mean “having a head like a fly”? I’m afraid some people might actually think that.”
Today I am grateful for: Grain
Guess the Movie: Then it don’t matter. I’ll be all around in the dark – I’ll be everywhere. Wherever you can look – wherever there’s a fight, so hungry people can eat, I’ll be there. Wherever there’s a cop beatin’ up a guy, I’ll be there. I’ll be in the way guys yell when they’re mad. I’ll be in the way kids laugh when they’re hungry and they know supper’s ready, and when the people are eatin’ the stuff they raise and livin’ in the houses they build – I’ll be there, too.

Hi! Everytime I come here I mean to congratulate you on the lbs lost! Good for you!
I’ve always looked forward to that last dark day of winter, when finally after months of trudging through the frigid cold, the sun rises above the clouds and burns through the ice to reveal… springtime.
Well, that is certainly good news about your grandson!
Hey, thanks for the Dylan link!
Yes, I just got it. I’ve been a bit lagging lately with this site. I bought my own domain so I’ve been trying to figure out how to build a website.
And I just self published a book of poems.
I’m trying to get back into it now.
I want to say the lines are out of Frank Capra’s (Gary Cooper) “Meet John Doe”, but not absolutely sure.
Close. Think another tall lanky actor from the same period.
Most profound…love the movie quote but cannot place it either…
Nice poem. Spring is around the corner. Yay!
Congrats on the weight loss-but I hope it’s through eating right and exercising, not too much stress.
I have seen the movie. I can hear the voice in my head….and the name of the movie is on the tip of my tongue, but I just can’t remember. This is going to keep me up all night.
Ooh – is it The Grapes of Wrath?
Bingo!
No, we don’t know when it’s our time, do we? Part of the mystery of living – the blessing and the burden.
I admit that was my first thought about “Fly Head.”
Even in the last moments on the bridge, we cannot be sure of our end.
I loved The Grapes of Wrath.

Right on for the link to the story on SD. I’m very upset by this situation in South Dakota and am trying to figure out a way to get bikers to boycott Sturgis. Thank you for sharing that link, and helping keep this outrageous, galling situation in people’s minds.
That’s so beautiful… “no one is awake when the last snow falls”. Sorry to hear about your son’s father. Take care.
I came across this article that you might be interested in reading. It’s about using the drug thalidomide in the treatment of MM. I think he is younger than the people in the article but I thought you might find it interesting anyway.

That is a most interesting and beautiful picture. Love, Tricia
Your xanga is awesome! The poetry is absolutley wonderful; and I so excited to find these article links you have.
Thanks for the comment! I’m sure that my mother will be fine, it’s just going to take time to get used to the idea that she will have to deal with diabetes.
That link to how ordering pizza in the near future might be is a scream. I was just telling my husband tonight how it irritates me how much personal information is out there.
They don’t call South Dakota the badlands for nothing.
Henry Fonda, yeah, was the speaker of the lines. The lanky guy of whom you speak. Just so you know I know. But we both knew that anyway.
I am so very glad I don’t know the day when I will go another route than the one here, and am intent on enjoying every minute of time I have here.
So sorry to hear about your son’s Dad’s ailment.
you are prolific.
I don’t want to be a fly head. You do not need to lose weight. My Mama always said when you get older you have to decide what you want to look good your fanny or your face, smile, Judi
