    London Tube Stations Evacuated

Guess if you’re watching CNN you know about this already. I was checking the cybernews before I set off for work and picked it up as it was happening so turned on the TV to follow. Don’t have time to stay and watch but will be checking from work. Here’s the progressing story. By the way, my mind is more of a sieve in the summer heat, but did anybody hear the motives for the recent bombings in London. I saw them tracking down the four guys and determining their descent, etc. but never really heard much more. I’m telling you, how much longer can it be before this begins to happen here?

Deep Thought:: It’s funny that pirates were always going around searching for treasure, and they never realized that the real treasure was the fond memories they were creating.

Guess the Movie: “There is a harsh truth to face. No way I’m gonna make it on the outside. All I do anymore is think of ways to break my parole. Terrible thing, to live in fear. Brooks Hatlen knew it. Knew it all too well. All I want is to be back where things make sense. Where I won’t have to be afraid all the time. Only one thing stops me. A promise I made to Andy.” Answer: Shawshank Redemption, 1994. Winner: sherab_zangmo.
    Nomination Vexes Liberals, Women
Loss of 2nd female voice is seen as cause for concern

WASHINGTON — President Bush’s nomination of Judge John Roberts Jr. to the Supreme Court left America’s first female justice among the American women who felt at least slightly let down.
“I am disappointed, in a sense, to see the percentage of women on our court drop by 50 percent,” Sandra Day O’Connor told The Associated Press in Spokane, even as she praised the president’s nominee for her replacement as “first-rate.” (Rest of article here.)

  • I have not heard so I will check out the news….Movie=Shawshank Redemption

I still think it should have been a woman too! But not any that Bush would have picked from…shudder.

    Have a lovely day :>)

  • Yup, Shawshank Redemption. Wasn’t that a great film?

  • Dear Lionne,

I and the rest of the Democrats will be electing Hilary Clinton for President in 2008. I have already signed a petition against John Roberts nomination on moveon.org, but I don’t know if it will make a difference. The antichrist bush wants to Republicanize the complete government.

The “war on terrorism” is just beginning, I fear. I didn’t expect another London bombing so soon, and have been in a bit of a funk since turning on NPR this morning on the way to work. No casualties yet, but the point these guys make is that nobody anywhere, is safe. We have subways out here in L.A. now, and train wrecks have been a terrible way to lose a life since trains were invented. There’s really no way a government can keep public transit completely safe.

  • Lovely news, this morning, hm?

  • I hadn’t read the news yet…what a terrible thing to happen…..again…..and I fear things will get worse…..

thanks to the “war on terror” that Bush lies about.  I can’t stand to hear him speak.  He whines.

  • nessi1 — he DOES whine.  OMG. I never thought about that.  But YES, that’s it (okay, that’s one thing of about a million that bother me about the dubya).  I am saddened. I was just telling my spouse about the news and we were both saddened.  Sigh.

  • I actually hope that the Dems DON’T raise a stink about Bush’s nomination.  I’d rather see Rove knocked down.

Anyway, about the lack of woman representation.  That is sad and true, BUT, may be ok.  A man should definitely not be chosen over a woman because of his gender, but a woman should not be chosen this way either.  Maybe, if people are conscious enough of the void that Sandra Day O’conner is leaving, the NEXT nominee will be a woman.  Are there any exemplary hispanic women looking for a seat on the high court?  Now that’d be awesome!

  • It could happen to us any day, and we’re not protected well because we’re too busy attacking other countries to protect ourselves….ugh.

  • Hi. Just thinking of you — hope all is well.

  • Just watched the Woodsman; wow.

  • I live in the United Kingdom and it’s really frightening right now :(
