  • The Illumined

The illumined with us keep to their own path. Transmigrants of an almost vanished race, they stand aloof and where the custom of the house is to perceive an oddity among the guests, remain unnoticed. Fragile in its length and lightness is the world their eyes reveal to the imagination – but it is extended, like a simple meal of salt and onions, to the mind that grasps it openly and leads it in to sleep on honest straw.

Deep Thought: If you ever feel like you’re on the verge of a nervous breakdown, just follow these simple rules: First, calm down; second, come over and wash my car; third, shine all my shoes. There, isn’t that better?

  • something about reading this just calmed me down, in a special way. thanks. salt and onions. yeah.

  • did you hear the storm last night? It was HUGE over here in Gresham. Started at about 3 a.m. and there was three warnings on t.v. about it. Yikes! That was out of nowhere.

  • I didn’t hear a thing. Didn’t even realize there had been one till I looked out this morning and saw the ground was wet. I did wake up a few times though. Maybe that’s way and I just didn’t realize it.

  • Nice prose, . . . wish I were illumined.  How did you get pre-med & ex-cops together?  Is it in some off beat bar?  Teehee!

  • interesting imagery–very quietening–if that’s a word…

  • nice, calming after madhousewife and Repairman_Jack, ahhh, thank you, I left such long comments at their sites, it really is so much easier than writing in one’s own blog, and I got a bit carried away, as I seem to be doing here, too, and anyway, who are the aloof, I love the image, but think it a bit of a fantasy of a life, those aloof lives are surely also lonely, like the hermit in the tarot, illumined, full of wisdom, but alone due to that very profound understanding of life, and is that a Cezanne, whose fruit you have placed next to your entry? It looks like a Cezanne, though I don’t recognize the painting. His fruit is all about the relationship to each other…..
