  • Hard Day’s Night

Just kidding. This is not about them, but they were great weren’t they? It’s about that I had a really tough 24 hours. My Tiny Toyota has been going down hard here the past few weeks, smoking out the back, so I took today off work to deal with it. But last night, when I should have been getting a good night’s sleep, my insides went haywire again. I might have been okay, but I had this computer tech over to work on my Mac and just having a basically stranger in my house for over an hour and trying to concentrate hard on what he was doing added to the stress I must have already had. By the time he left and I went to bed, my gut was so tied up in knots I literally couldn’t get to sleep till about 3 in the morning. At one point, I thought I might have to go to an ER in the middle of the night. It felt really similar to when I got a hernia about 30 years ago. I hate this part about living alone. It’s kind of scary. But by this morning I was okay enough to take TT over to my mechanic to get the death certificate. I would have to put a rebuilt engine in it to the tune of $3500. So I headed over to my son’s store to get some moral support and from there I went to meet with this guy who I found on Craig’s List selling a 1998 Chevy Prizm for just under $5000. Turns out he’s a local news announcer on TV who brokers cars on the side. Anyway, the car seemed good and we took it for a short spin, but decided to wait till tomorrow and take it for a diagnostic checkup at Firestone. So hopefully, by tomorrow noon I’ll have a decent car to carry me on for another 10 years or so. I haven’t eaten much today at all, just letting my alimentary tract rest. Hope I can sleep deep tonight.
Deep Thought: I can picture in my mind a world without war, and a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they’d never expect it.
Today I am grateful for: Van Gogh

  • There’s nothing like an unreliable car to boost stress levels…or so I found when my elderly Ford Escort started giving out.

  • My little Toyota is getting fixed today. Sigh. They usually run forever.
